Founded in 1999, Wnet inherited the experience and technology expersite in the fields of network contruction and maintenance from Tele Redes, which installed more than 20,000 km of fiber optics networks all over Brazil during the privatization of the telecom sector back in the 90's.
WNet started its operation as a small internet provider located in Barra da Tijuca, whose purpose was to supply the growing demand for internet and corporate connectivity not entirely provided by the major telecom operators at that time.
In 2004, WNet received an investment form MVP Tech fund, which was later acquired by Rio Bravo Investimentos.
Today, WNet has a comprehensive network composed by state of the art hybrid technologies - wireless and fiber optics - and provides telecom services for over 7,000 clients (residential and corporate) in more than 20 regions inside Rio de Janeiro city metropolitan area.
WNet has major companies as clients, ranging from small internet providers to schools, large corporations and universities. WNet also has an outstanding experience in providing telecom structure to congress, exhibitions and events. Recently, WNet provided the fixed telephony structure for the UN World Urban Forum (5FUM-2010).
